Leah Van Keppel, CPM, LM

Leah graduated from the National College of Midwifery in 2025 after completing a
comprehensive apprenticeship in the out-of-hospital setting, earning her credential as a Certified
Professional Midwife. She also holds a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Purdue University, with
a concentration in Education.

Leah’s journey into birth work began after the challenging birth of her daughter in 2017, an
experience that left her feeling unseen within the medical system. This pivotal moment inspired
her to explore holistic approaches to health and wellness, where she discovered her calling to
walk alongside women through the transformative experiences of pregnancy and birth. She
quickly became passionate about helping families find their voice and advocating for informed,
compassionate care. In 2020, after receiving her doula credential from the Madriella Doula
Network, she co-founded Sol Doula Services with a friend, supporting families with both birth
and postpartum care.

Over the years, Leah has attended more than 150 births in various roles, including two years of
dedicated work as a birth and postpartum doula. Her philosophy centers on the belief that
pregnancy and birth are normal physiological processes that deserve guidance rather than
control. She values the power of education, informed consent, and the trusting relationship
between midwife and family. Leah is deeply committed to patient-centered care, honoring birth
as a natural life event that should be both celebrated and respected.

Today, Leah is a Certified Professional Midwife licensed in both Indiana and Michigan. She lives
in Valparaiso with her 7-year-old daughter, Varah. Beyond her midwifery practice, Leah enjoys
fiber arts and creating herbal remedies, finding joy in the same creativity and nurture she brings
to her work with families.
